Madonna is absolutely right when she points out that Twitter, Facebook or Instagram are great for communicating with other people, but also allow people to hide in their anonymity and say extremely destructive, disparaging, negative and discriminating things.
Thank you, Mrs. Ciccone, you said exactly what I am thinking. I already met a lot of great people on Facebook and Co. who meanwhile also became friends in real life and I’m not sure if I would have ever met them without social media. I am grateful for that.
But I also already experienced the other side. There are people on these social networks who don’t just have one but a number of fake names which allows them to stalk others without being recognized, at least not from the beginning, and then use what they found out about others for cyber-bullying.
